How to Find the Most-Commented Instagram Posts

To find an Instagram account’s most-commented posts, open its profile in desktop Chrome and select Most Comments in FeedRama. Choose a collection scope, run the sort, and read the highest-ranked posts. Comment count tells you where conversation is concentrated; you still need to open the comments to understand what people are saying.

Sort Instagram posts by comments

  1. Install FeedRama from the Chrome Web Store in desktop Chrome, then reload the Instagram or TikTok tab.
  2. Open a profile’s Posts or Reels tab. Choose one content type for your comparison.
  3. Select a post-count scope. On Posts, you can also use an available date window; FeedRama disables date filtering on Reels.
  4. Choose Most Comments, run the sort, and note whether the collection completed or returned partial results.
  5. Open the leading posts and read a sample of the visible conversation before drawing conclusions.

The Instagram feed sorter ranks counts in the collected sample. It does not perform comment sentiment analysis or automatically export the text of every comment.

A comment count is a starting point

A giveaway, a product problem, and a useful tutorial can all receive many comments for different reasons. A post that asks for a one-word reply may rank above one containing a detailed discussion. Treat the number as a way to choose what to read next.

Pattern you observePossible interpretationNext check
Repeated practical questionsAn explanation may be missingLook for the answer in the post
Many short giveaway entriesThe incentive may drive repliesSeparate it from ordinary content
Complaints or correctionsHigh volume may signal a problemRead the creator’s response
Long personal examplesThe topic invites experience-sharingLook for recurring situations

These are interpretation prompts, not automated labels. Read enough context to avoid classifying a discussion from a single reply.

Build a question-led content brief

Record the post URL, publication date, comment count, collection date, and a paraphrase of the recurring question. Add your proposed answer and the evidence you need to support it. Keep individual commenters’ details out of a general research brief unless you have a specific reason to include them.

For example, if several comments ask how a demonstrated tool works on a small budget, your next tutorial could show the budget setup. The useful finding is the unanswered question, not the fact that the reference post has many comments. The competitor research guide explains how to connect these observations to a broader plan.

Compare comments with likes and views

Run the same scope with Most Likes to see whether the conversation leaders are also the approval leaders. For views, switch to the Reels tab and remember that this changes the content sample. Avoid comparing a Posts collection with a Reels collection as if they contain identical items.

If you need a table, export the collected post data when available. The Comments column contains counts, not comment bodies. Use the likes-sorting guide for the second pass.

Make the conclusion match the sample

Write “most-commented posts among the latest 50 collected on this date,” rather than “best posts of all time.” A recent promotion, partial collection, or unavailable counts can change the ranking. Older posts have also had more time to accumulate replies.

Available ranges and actions depend on your account. Check current access and pricing and the limits shown in the extension before a large job. A completed sort describes the posts collected in that run; it does not prove that every post ever published was retrieved.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sort Instagram posts by comment count?

Yes. On a supported profile, FeedRama’s Most Comments option orders collected posts by available comment counts. Choose a scope and inspect the result before using it as a ranking.

Does FeedRama download all the comments?

The post-data export includes a Comments count. That is not a complete export of comment text, replies, or commenter profiles. Read the visible conversation on Instagram for qualitative research.

Are the most-commented posts the best posts?

Not automatically. Comments can reflect useful discussion, incentives, complaints, or controversy. Read the conversation and relate it to your research objective.

Can I do this for Reels?

Use the profile’s Reels tab and Most Comments with a post-count scope. FeedRama disables date-range filtering on Instagram Reels.

Can I compare different creators fairly?

Use similar time periods or clearly described sample sizes, separate content types, and record collection dates. Raw comment counts alone do not account for differences in audience size or post age.
