Sorting & Research

Instagram Reels Sorting Not Working?

If FeedRama is not sorting Instagram Reels, first open a profile’s Reels tab and choose a post-count filter. Date-range filtering is disabled on Reels, and view sorting is not available on the ordinary Posts tab. Checking those two settings resolves a different problem from an interrupted collection, which may return a partial sample.

Try the workflow in Chrome

Use FeedRama on a supported Instagram or TikTok page, and check the available range and actions in your account.

Match the setting to the tab

Where you areWhat to useCommon mismatch
Profile PostsLikes, comments, or OldestTrying to sort by views
Profile ReelsAvailable metrics with a post countTrying to filter by a date window
An unrelated pageNavigate to a supported profileExpecting profile controls everywhere

The setting called Date narrows a collection window; Oldest orders the collected items. These are not interchangeable controls. See the date-sorting guide if you are building a chronology.

Run a small diagnostic sort

  1. Install FeedRama from the Chrome Web Store in desktop Chrome, then reload the Instagram or TikTok tab.
  2. Open the creator’s profile and explicitly select Reels. Confirm that the native grid loads.
  3. Choose a modest post count and an available metric, then start the sort.
  4. Read any error or partial-results notice. Record the result count and scope.
  5. Open one result and confirm that it belongs to the intended account and content type.

The Instagram sorter works with collected posts. It does not guarantee every historical Reel will be available in a single run.

Interpret incomplete results correctly

A partial collection can still produce a sorted grid. That grid answers “which retrieved Reels had the most views,” not “which Reels were the account’s all-time best.” Do not silently replace the missing part of the sample with an assumption.

If the native page asks for login or shows a restriction, handle that on Instagram first. If the grid itself does not load, restarting the sorter repeatedly cannot establish a reliable sample. Save the scope and error details before retrying.

When the order seems surprising

Make sure you are comparing the same metric. A Reel can lead in likes and trail in views. Also check for missing timestamps when using Oldest: unavailable dates cannot establish a historical position.

For a report, keep the selected metric, post count, collection date, and status next to the result. If the problem persists, provide those details with the browser and extension versions. Avoid sending credentials or session data. The performance guide explains what to do once a valid collection is available.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Date disabled on Reels?

FeedRama’s Reels collection uses a post-count scope. Use the Posts tab for the available date-window filtering workflow.

Why can’t I sort Posts by views?

The ordinary Posts grid does not support FeedRama’s view sort. Switch to the profile’s Reels tab for that metric.

Does a sorted grid mean collection was complete?

No. Read the collection status and chosen scope. A partial run can still return a useful but incomplete sorted sample.

Should I keep restarting a failed sort?

Check the error and whether Instagram loads normally first. Repeated retries do not fix missing platform access or unavailable content.

What details help support?

The profile URL, tab, metric, scope, result count, error text, and browser and extension versions are useful. Do not share account tokens.
