To download an Instagram carousel with FeedRama, open the post in desktop Chrome and use its Download control. A carousel is saved as a ZIP containing its available photo and video slides. Extract the ZIP to use the individual files. This is useful for keeping your own posts or reviewing a permitted reference as a complete sequence.
Try the workflow in Chrome
Use FeedRama on a supported Instagram or TikTok page, and check the available range and actions in your account.
Add FeedRama to ChromeDownload the carousel from the post
- Install FeedRama from the Chrome Web Store in desktop Chrome, then reload the Instagram or TikTok tab.
- Open the carousel’s individual Instagram post, rather than only a small profile thumbnail. Confirm it is the post you want.
- Use FeedRama’s Download button and wait for the browser download to finish. Keep the tab open while it runs.
- Extract the ZIP and compare the slide count and order with the original. Open a photo and any video slide to check the files.
For a single-photo post, the output is an image rather than a multi-slide archive. For a Reel, follow the Instagram Reels download guide. The Instagram downloader supports these different formats from the same extension.
What is inside the ZIP?
| Post content | Saved output | Check after downloading |
|---|---|---|
| Photo slide | Image file | It is the slide, not a grid preview |
| Video slide | Video file | Playback and expected audio |
| Mixed carousel | Images and videos in one ZIP | Slide order and file count |
| Caption and engagement metrics | Separate data export | Keep the post URL with your notes |
Slide filenames include a sequence number. For carousels with ten or more items, numbering is padded so alphabetical file sorting preserves the sequence. Creator and post identifiers help you trace files back to the source; dates or caption text may be absent when the source does not supply them.
Save the sequence, not just the first slide
A useful carousel reference has three parts: the opening slide, the transition between slides, and the final action. Keep those together. Saving only the opening image loses the structure that explains how the post makes its argument.
For a design review, make a short note for each slide: promise, evidence, example, objection, or action. Record your own observations separately from the original caption. Exporting Instagram post data can preserve the caption and metrics separately; a media ZIP is not a spreadsheet or complete account backup.
If only one image appears or the download fails
Make sure you downloaded the post rather than its cover. Reopen the individual carousel and let it load. If the extension reports an error, check whether Instagram itself still displays the post, then try once after refreshing. Expired media links, missing slides, or an interrupted session can prevent a complete download.
Do not rename a ZIP to JPG or MP4. Extract it first. If a file will not open, download the post again after checking that the source is accessible. See the download troubleshooting checklist for distinguishing browser, account, and media problems.
Keep a usable reference folder
Create one folder per post, keep the ZIP until you have checked its contents, and add the source URL to your research notes. Download content you own or have permission to use; keeping a reference does not establish permission to republish it. If you need a full account backup, use the broader Instagram backup workflow.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download every slide in an Instagram carousel?
FeedRama can package the carousel’s available media into a ZIP. Check the resulting file count against the post. Missing or unavailable media can prevent a complete download, so a saved archive should still be verified.
Can a carousel ZIP include both photos and videos?
Yes. Mixed Instagram carousels can contain image and video files. Extract the archive and open the individual items; the ZIP itself is a container, not a video.
Does the ZIP include the caption?
The media archive contains the slides. Use a separate post-data export or your research notes to retain the caption, metrics, and source URL.
Is this the same as downloading a Reel?
No. A Reel is video content; a carousel is a sequence of slides that may include photos and videos. A carousel archive preserves the items separately rather than rendering a new slideshow movie.
Can I do this in Chrome on my phone?
FeedRama’s workflow uses desktop Chrome. Opening the mobile browser in desktop mode does not turn it into the desktop extension environment.
